When tile is removed using traditional methods, which are NOT dust-free, it produces Silica Dust.
According to OSHA, Silica Dust is more than a serious health danger. Amid the tile demolition process, Silica Dust becomes airborne and spreads all throughout your home, leaving a coating of Silica Dust on all surfaces (including furniture, beds, counters, floors, everything). Even if you spend weeks cleaning your home afterward, you will never be able to remove it all.
This dust triggers intense asthma attacks in individuals with an existing asthma / lung condition, or who suffer from allergies. Even worse? Silica Dust has been directly linked to causing Silicosis, an irreversible and disabling (often deadly) disease. Silicosis often results in breathing difficulties, heart failure and cancer.
